P(Watts) = U(Volt) x I(Amp)  => I = P / U

So if U=12V and P=50W you need I=50/12=4.2 Amp to switch on your Xenon Lamp.

yes after the light up they need only this but
just a short time they need 10 A to light up the xenon lamp....

Vincent.

Okay i have found the real answer with test on diy community deutchland.
So the answer is : with a toshiba 15VDC at 5 Amp you can light
up 35 and 50 Watts Xenon set.

Vincent

In fact total power ( in watts) is the same during the lighting phase and after , but during the power up, voltage  is very big ( +/- 5 000 V  ) and intensity very small (+/- 0,010 Amp ).

ok! just another question about xenon kit:
there seems to be 2 kind of kit:
35watt and 55watt (according on what written on ballast)

some people sell 50watt kit, it seems a kit with a resistor to solve problem on some kind of car, em i true???

so most luminous kit should be the 55watt one??? (55watt written on ballast)

just to clarify everything: do 55watt kits use the same 35watt lamp or do they need 55watt lamp too???

thanks:)

For an normal color temperature rendering you MUST use a ballast AND a lamp of the same power .

-if you use a ballast of 55w on a 35w lamp the TC will be more important than the normal TC

-if you use a ballast of 35w and a 55w lamp the TC will be less important than the normal TC

Take in mind that in these cases the lifetime of the lamp will be strongly reduced.

But in both situation you can  use  ballasts and lamps of different power.

hi, thanks;)
i've found this kit:

http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/6961/f15b12kr0.th.jpg

it seems it has ballast 55watt...hope lamp too :)  (H7 6000k)

seller said to me it is the most luminous he has ever had ...(??)
has anyone tried a kit like this?? :)

Ivanovitch: a 35watt lamp on a 55w ballast should be more luminous too, true??
colour temperature should be highter too (6000k-> become 6500k or like..)

ps:  original projector lamp are about 6000k or 7000k??

Hi, yes it's exactly what i said.  For example a lamp of 35w and 6000k with a ballast of 55w is going to have a TC of 7000k.

In original projectors i don't know but it should be between 6000 and 7000k ...

to the description of the power supply specification ...

Have you check to output power on the ouput cable
to check if you plugin is good...

hi vincent,
i think my ballast are analog ones, so they suck much ampere at startup.

cable and output cable are ok;)
